Speed Up Closing Running Applications at Shutdown

This feature allows you to force your computer to shut down more quickly.

When you shut down (sign out or restart) your system, Windows doesn’t shut down immediately. Instead, it gives running applications some time to close first. This is in order to clean up and save applications data before offering to close them. Using the “Speed Up Closing Running Applications at Shutdown” feature, you can reduce the time how long Windows waits.

You shouldn’t normally need to change this setting because it can lead to issues such as application being unable to save their data properly, as Windows kills them before they can do that. But it can be helpful if you’d like to force your computer to shut down more quickly.
