Disable Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

This feature allows you to disable or enable the Windows Media Player network sharing service.

Windows Media Player (WMP) is a standard media player and media library application developed by Microsoft that is used for playing audio, video and viewing images on computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system.

If a check mark is set, the WMP network sharing service is disabled. If a check mark is removed, the WMP network sharing service is enabled.

By default, the WMP network sharing service is enabled.

Description of the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service from Microsoft in Windows 7: "Shares Windows Media Player libraries to other networked players and media devices using Universal Plug and Play."

WMP allows users to share media files with other computers on the same network. If you don't need to participate in network media files sharing via WMP, then you can disable the WMP Network Sharing service. You can disable this service using the "Disable Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" setting of the Red Button program.
