Disable Windows Media DRM Internet Access

This feature allows you to disable or enable Windows Media DRM internet access.

If a check mark is set, Windows Media DRM internet access is disabled. If a check mark is removed, Windows Media DRM internet access is enabled.

By default, Windows Media DRM internet access is enabled.

Digital rights management (DRM) is a technology that content rights holders can use to protect multimedia files from unauthorized distribution and use.

Windows Media DRM (WMDRM) is a service for the Windows Media platform designed to provide delivery of audio or video content over an IP network in such a way that the distributor can control how that content is used.

Windows Media DRM can connect to the Internet (or intranet) to acquire licenses, download security upgrades, and perform license restoration. Many people do not use this feature. Therefore, some users prefer to disable it, in order to increase security and avoid unnecessary resource-hogging. At the same time, secure content that is already licensed to the local computer will continue to play. If you want to prevent Windows Media DRM from accessing the Internet, you can do it using the "Disable Windows Media DRM Internet Access" setting of the Red Button program.
